Steamboat Ski Resort took delivery earlier this spring of North America’s first SNOWLICIOUS food truck concept snow groomer, manufactured by PRINOTH.
PRINOTH is the only snow groomer manufacturer offering this unique and elaborate concept that was initially developed by Italian Chef Andrea Campi. The renowned Chef came up with the brilliant idea of a mobile kitchen when he was trying to find a way of boosting the sluggish lunchtime trade at his restaurant.
Guests stayed away at lunchtime because they preferred to carry on having fun on the mountain and the ski slopes. So he thought: If the people don’t come to me, then my kitchen must go to them. What was initially only supposed to be a mobile outpost of his restaurant soon turned into a much wider concept. Culinary creations, served in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Freshly prepared and served from a snow groomer. That’s how this innovative partnership between PRINOTH and the inventive chef came about.
“Steamboat is thrilled to announce the Taco Beast, a roaming PRINOTH snowcat redefining on-mountain dining,” said Rob Spence, vice president of food & beverage for Steamboat Ski Resort & Corporation. “The SNOWLICIOUS concept is an obvious choice for our resort; bringing delicious tacos and drinks, DJ music and a fun party directly to guests on the slopes. We’re hearing from Steamboat fans far and wide about their excitement to see the Taco Beast in action next winter.”
Steamboat’s Taco Beast will serve carne asada and al pastor “trail tacos” the resort’s take on street tacos, as well as breakfast burritos, esquites (Mexican street corn on the cob), Mexican-style beer and margaritas. The Taco Beast will debut at the resort this summer with a base area location; for winter the Taco Beast will travel the mountain with new locations throughout the season. Come winter, the resort will feature a Taco Beast website alerting guests to the snowcat’s location and operating dates and times.
PRINOTH’s strong collaboration with Steamboat spanning over 24 years as a provider of snow grooming equipment and after sale services was key to the success of this transaction. A team comprised of specialized technicians from PRINOTH’s Regional Distribution Office located in Grand Junction, CO, ensured the SNOWLICIOUS groomer was fully prepped and ready to be operational for the delivery date. “This transaction reflects the entrepreneur spirit that Steamboat has always demonstrated as a quality destination for ski & snowboards enthusiasts alike,” mentions Charles Blier, VP of Snow Grooming Sales, North America. “PRINOTH is proud to be part of this project and will continue supporting Steamboat in their quest to bring creative ideas to the slopes”.
Over 11 ski areas worldwide now benefit from the SNOWLICIOUS food truck snow groomer concept and this number is growing year after year since its debut in 2016. With its optional rubber tracks, the SNOWLICIOUS can also be moved to urban areas or even to the beach where hungry crowds are looking for a quick snack. The unit can also be outfitted with a DJ platform for an even more spectacular customer experience.
