Alpine Groomers
• Mid-sized: An alpine groomer up to 400 horsepower (hp)
used in grooming ski areas, side hills and slopes with up to
a 35 percent slope.
• Large: An alpine groomer over 400 hp used in grooming ski
areas, side hills and slopes with up to a 35 percent slope.
LITE Groomers
• On-snow vehicle with two or more tracks, must be under
150 hp with a cab for two or more people and able to pull a
minimum of 1,000 pounds (lb.).
Trail Groomers
• Mid-sized: Equipment used for cross-country ski and
snowmobile trail grooming, 150 to 250 hp.
• Large: Equipment used for cross-country ski and snowmo-bile
trail grooming, over 200 hp.
Winch Groomers
• Must include a winch apparatus and an engine over 400 hp.
Grooming Drags
• Small: Must be between four feet and six feet in width, and
between eight feet and 12 feet in length.
• Mid-sized: Width must be minimum seven feet and maxi-mum
10 feet. Length must be minimum 16 feet and no lon-ger
than 20 feet.
• Large: Will allow foldouts/wings in this category only.
Width must be a minimum of 12 feet and a maximum of 15
feet (with foldouts extended). Length must be a minimum
of 20 feet; there is no maximum length.
Mowers
• Flail: 3-point rear mounted flail mower able to cut large
areas of grass or brush up to one-inch in diameter. For in-stallation
on tractor or grooming vehicle.
• Rotary: Mid-mounted boom mower with a horizontal reach
of 30 feet and a variety of cutting head options, including a
rotary head with the ability to cut brush up to five-inches in
diameter. For installation on a tractor.
Snow Guns
• Small Fan Guns: A company’s smallest snowmaking fan
gun according to snow throw or throwing range and snow
production per hour.
• Large Fan Guns: A company’s largest snowmaking fan gun
according to snow throw or throwing range and maximum
snow production per hour.
• Economy Lance Towers: Water/air mixture, single stage
water flow, variable airflow, wet bulb start at a mini-mum
of 28°F (-2.2°C), uses minimum air consumption at
cold temperatures.
• Workhorse Towers: Water/air mixture, multiple stage wa-ter
flow, variable airflow, wet bulb start at a minimum of
28°F (-2.2°C). Works well in all temperatures, uses minimum
air consumption at cold temperatures, largest producer of
snow by lance/tower.
Track Systems
• Tractor Track System: Used on light and heavy snow con-ditions,
severe side slope applications, consistently pulling
1,500 to 3,000 lb. (680 to 1,361 kg).
• UTV Track System: 4-wheel drive with maximum
3,500 lb. (1,588 kg), working in continuous cold conditions
(0 to -30°F) and towing 500 to 1,000 lb. (227 to 454 kg) in
deep snow.
Truck Tracks
• Mid-sized: Track conversion system to fit one or more of
the following makes and models: Chevrolet Blazer, Dodge
Durango, Ford Ranger, Jeep Cherokee.
• Full-sized: Track conversion system to fit one or more of
the following makes and models: Chevrolet Suburban,
Dodge Ram 1500, Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra.
XC Tracksetters
• Small: Groomer frame width must be minimum three
inches and maximum four inches. Tracksetter implement
attached to specified groomer for creating cross-country
ski tracks.
• Mid-sized: Groomer main frame width must be minimum
five inches and maximum six inches. Tracksetter imple-ment
attached to specified groomer for creating cross-country
ski tracks.
Utility Sleds
• Mountain: Towing ability up to 200 lb. (90 kg) daily, used for
general transportation, up to 35 percent slopes, in moun-tainous
regions with more than 10 feet of snow annually.
• Trail: Towing ability for up to 200 lb. (90 kg), grooming for
over four hours, three to five days per week. Used in hilly
areas with annual snowfall under 10 feet.
Tube Lane Groomer Equipment
• Attachment for groomer blade to form compact berms be-tween
tubing lanes.
Please note: All companies interested in participating in
the 2020 Equipment Comparison Guide must submit their
information and photos for each category that they wish
to be featured in. SnowOps does not pick up information or
photos from previous years, and any companies requesting
that previously submitted information be used will not be in-cluded
in the 2020 Equipment Comparison Guide. There is
no limit on the number of categories entered or how many
pieces of equipment companies can submit in each category.
