LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Season
April/May 2019 | Vol 7. | No. 2
Ender
www.snowopsmag.com Welcome to the 2019-20
Equipment Comparison
Guide and Buyer’s Guide
issue of SnowOps! As
ski areas continue the transition to
off-season, I hope our annual guides
will give you some inspiration for the
next season. (Anyone else counting
down the days?) Thank you to all of
the equipment manufacturers who
participated in this year’s guides.
The 2019-20 Equipment Comparison
Guide can be found on page 17 and the
2019-20 Buyer’s Guide is on page 55.
HKD Snowmakers is broadening its
inventory of snowmaking solutions with
the recent acquisition of Sno.matic. Its
proprietary platform, iSno, controls
and monitors snowmaking systems.
On page 12 Charles Santry, president and
co-owner of HKD Snowmakers, talks
about the acquisition and what this
means for the future of HKD Snowmakers.
We also met up with Brian Pombo of
All Mountain Construction. Pombo’s
company specializes in steep slope
excavation with minimal environmental
impact. That’s a plus for both ski areas
and riders. Read that article on page 9.
What started as a conversion on gas
station media systems grew into Alpine
Media Technology. The company offers
ski areas digital information systems
on chairlifts, gondolas and throughout
resorts to offer riders real-time moun-tain
information, including open runs,
weather and more. Flip to page 47 to
learn how Alpine Media Technology
can maximize your guests’ experience.
I hope you enjoy this issue and I look
forward to hearing your feedback and
comments. Don’t forget to like and
follow us on Facebook and Twitter. I’m
always open to suggestions, so feel free
to drop me a line if you have an article
topic you’d love to see in a future issue
of SnowOps. Have a safe and wonderful
summer, and I’ll see you in September!
Cheers,
Lindsay Risto
